Sad here you had one of the most advanced richest exporter in the western hemisphere were at one time the Cupan peso was ahead of the American dollar, and now after 50 years of communist rule the place is an outdoor toilet. Roguie, I know what you mean, this town is run down and dirty but the people are interesting and most are well educated, I went to a private house for a lobster dinner and met a German tourist, he, our hostess, and myself had a wonderful 2 hour conversation in English about the world/Cuba/Politics etc. while we ate fish/lobster and drank cervesas.

I'd rather not debate the Americans here that seem to know whats best for Cuba, Americans were born into their current situation exactly the same way the cubans are, I have yet to meet a cuban that supports communism but the comments about "those commies" show how ignorant many Americans really are.

I had fun in Cuba, I always do, I didn't make any beach videos but the beaches are pristine and beautiful, Cuba is an excellent vacation destination, the fact that it is void of ignorant Americans makes it that much more appealing.

I heard you cant take the local girls back to your Hotel is that correct? My friend was there and he told me you have to take them to '**** shacks'. As far as the angry Americans that you refered to as idiots, im guessing there Cuban Americans and they have a legitimate beef with the Cuban government. Nice job, look forward to hearing more about the trip.

I like Happy Boy, as a Cuban American I understand the resentment he has towards the Cuban government.

I've said this before, I have yet to meet a Cuban that supports communism, they are trapped inside of it and are helpless to change the current system. I do not support communism, my visits to the island are strictly pleasure trips.

Good point.

People keep forgetting that part Reno.

Cuba is safe and the citizens are mostly university educated, family life is far superior to North American family life, families are usually always together, moms able to be with their children all day instead of having to drop them off at a daycare.

Cubans lack most of the freedoms that we take for granted, they are controlled by their government, they also lack material items and consumerism is not possible there as it is here. (My host asked me if he could have the can opener I brought, and of course I gave it to him)

I personally bring items to give to people I know in Cuba, it makes there life a little bit easier. (I arrive in Cuba with a carry on bag and a duffel bag full of items, I return with only my carry on luggage. Most Canadians also do this when heading there.)

I personally believe the revolution was good for Cuba at the time (it sopped them from being raped by the US capitalist interests) but 60 years later its time for change.

I wouldn't want to discount whatever hardships the Cubans endure. I'm sure there are many. But the way Cuba survived, and in many ways prospered despite being isolated under a US embargo is practically a miracle.
Not many good things are happening in Latin American countries whose leaders toe the US line.

The problem is the only change the US wants everywhere is privatization. That is letting corporations control the assets of the country.

In Miami I always heard this from the folks that came to the US in the 90s. That the life conditions, while not ideal, wasn't so bad during the Soviet subsidized era. While still ideologically and physically repressed the living conditions were sufficient, if you follow the line sort of speak. When the Union failed that's when things turned to the crap that is today.
