Can you get a rough idea of where the book are leaning based on the money line?

Sometimes yeah, and other times it's just that MLs are typically slower to move than a spread or total. This is assuming the book has a lean one way or the other, they set the opener and then let the money make the market as necessary.

What do you mean by lean? Are you referring to opinionated lines? If so, you can simply look at an efficient market to determine that.

Yes exactly... Is there a way to gauge that based on the money line? Like if the spread is -5.5 the ML should be XXX

BY efficient do you mean a large, diverse market like Pinnacle??

Yes. Pinny is a good indicator. As a guage for opinionated lines, I'd say the ML isn't a very good indication of any opinion. You can find the appropriate spread to moneyline conversion by using Ganch's Spread/ML converter in SBR's Betting Tools.
