    Sick of being broke.
I really really really really wanted to go to 1 Big East Tourney game. After looking over the prices of tickets, there is no way in hell I could afford one of these seats. Prices are unreal. How the fuk is a college kid supposed to afford this?

Honest to god, when I get a good job, Im saving up as much money as I can and Im gonna take as many kids or people to these events as possible. If for nothing else but to let them "Live the dream" for 1 night and see something other than a shithole world where things are only available to the rich.

I have a job...Do you really think part time or even full time wages would support seeing a game where tickets are $150-$400 even for the shit seats?

Why wouldn't it? I would spend $400 a weekend in college on food, booze, and drugs...

Yes...Most of the time you cannot even get tickets at regular price because they sell out in 10 minutes. Then they immediately get put up on stub hub or some other ticket place and are sold for unreal prices. Capitalism at its best and in my case, at its worst.

I dont know about the Big East, but the ACC still had tickets at face value about a week ago. It was the 1st time in about 2O years that the tournament wasn't sold out. People are cutting back on their discretionary spending due to the economy.

I dont know about other places but in NY you cannot buy anything at face value. A yankees game - FORGET ABOUT IT - even when they play the worst teams in baseball they are still sold out. Giants no...Jets No The fuking knicks sell out too. The fuking new york knicks!

                                Its unreal here tully.

AAO, I used to get Mets tickets all the time at face value, but I guess not everyone wants to watch the Mets. That will probably change with the new stadium.

Probably...I have no clue about the Mets or the Ny Rangers or Islanders either but I would say you can get seats but they probably still go for pretty good prices Maybe $50-$80 for nosebleeds.

Will need to hear from amby or someone else familiar with hockey.

No tully, parents basically said when I turned 18 I was on my own when I went to college. Its not right or wrong it just is what it is. Hell for all I know they might be in worse shape than me (with retirement plans, stocks, 401k's ect. ect.)

I got fuking chucked. Only thing they really help me with is they have dinner on sundays so I get a good meal and then can bring home the leftovers which last a couple days.

All of which I pay for out of my own pocket and even with student loans I am just barley making it. The only thing that I do for fun is go out every so often with friends and gamble with an extra few dollars I have left over(which isnt much).

I have two 19' TV's...you really think I dont want to go by a nice 46 inch plasma? Oh I cant because my bank account will be -$1200.

Im not asking for pity or for people to feel sorry for me, Im just saying I would like to go to 1 big east tourney game that doesnt cost a zillion dollars.
I'm sure they'll have another tournament next year. If you can't afford it, so what? I wasn't handed anything in life. I'm not quite sure where you get that notion. But I worked my ass off during the week so I could enjoy the weekends. I worked full time during the week while going to school full time. It wasn't easy but I did it.

I got fuking chucked. Only thing they really help me with is they have dinner on sundays so I get a good meal and then can bring home the leftovers which last a couple days.
Sorry about that, it will make you better in the long run. I paid for all of my own school, not that I really use my degree at all now. I dont know what you do for work, but I would try to get a job bartending or bar backing at a college bar, you can pretty god tips. I delivered pizzas in college once a week and would end up with about $100 tips, not lot of money but enough to get with in college.

As do I...In the summer my hours get cut in half(because of all the college kids coming back home n filling in) so I was lucky to get a paid internship which I had to work 9-5 and then come home and work 6-10 for my other job... and do it all over the next day. I did this the whole summer and saved every bit I could so I could have some money to go to the bash with. It looks like I will have to do the same this summer. Not fun by any means but it was worth it for the bash...best time I may have had in my life.

I'm showing my age here but my son went through the same thing when he was going to school. He had two jobs and a little help from the folks. But he was more content with watching the games on the tube. He invested in a nice big screen TV. He said it lowered the stress level when it came to buying tickets, paying for parking, being hassled by other drivers etc.

I'm in no way shape or form in your situation as my college is pretty well covered and I get some spending money every once in a while from my parents to hold me over but I never go to games or concerts or any of that... I don't have any job other than making sure I keep my grades up, and am rarely pressured financially...

but, somehow, I'm sooo tight with my money that it's ridiculous...

I won't even pay a 5 dollar cover at a club or bar... let along a game that will be over in 3 hours...

through saving and all I got a 32 inch lcd when lcds were just coming out and still have/use it to this day... I want the 52 inch+ but we don't even have hd in the dorms so it's not that big of a deal to me for now...

at home my dad has a 61 inch samsung rear projection that is practically like being there... that's where i'll watch all of the acc tourny from (spring break and I passed down a trip to the beach to save dough/ gamble...)

I understand completely what it's like to not feel like you can afford something, but my nature keeps me from even wanting to shell out a few hundred to watch a game live... it isn't the end of the world. tv is probably better...

with all of that said my dad's talking about taking me to a bobcats game before the end of the season...

there will be plenty of times in the future for you to go to the games.

just watch on tv, bet a few bucks and enjoy
