If I was a coach I wouldn't have names on the back of jerseys. As for the fans watching the games, I would say most know which players where which numbers, or what the player looks like without needing a name.

Thats all you're really rooting for anyway is the clothes, theyll cheer their ass off while a players wearing their clothes then boo that same individual in another shirt when he trades teams, essentially the ppl are just cheering and booing shirts so might as well not put the players name on the back bc the shirt is all that matters

I guess I am the exception...For years I loved Jerry Rice when he played for the 49ers. When he went to the Raiders I cheered for him just the same.
