Nicklaus had back problems early in his career, too. His answer was to lose weight and keep it off - which is the opposite of what Tiger did, which was bulk up.

Also, in his 30s Nicklaus refocused his career to revolve around majors - his appearances were made around them and lightened up his professional load, spent more time with family. Again, the opposite of what Tiger did.

Right now Tiger is slightly behind Jack's pace - and in 2008 his overtaking Nicklaus was practically a given.

I tend to root against Tiger because his fans don't know or care a thing about golf, though I should encourage you guys - because you idiots never stop betting him. (Tiger currently 2nd fave at Augusta)

on the golf side, its hard to figure things out when you have been swinging with so much tork forever and then all of a sudden need to switch it up to take better care of your body. his swing is much different and I dont think its working out too well yet

the original injury came when he was in the hunt a couple months back and he hit a shot in a key moment about 75 yards off line and immediately fell to his knees

theres no doubt he's had a back injury and id imagine it's lingered but i'd also guess that he's playing it up too

It's a crazy predicament he's in golf-wise. Someone, (prob Johnny Miller, the hater's hater) was saying he thought Tiger would have these issues all along.

His talent is still there. But does his body have enough gas to get that top-level game? He's either going to figure it out or throw in the towel; one thing I can't see is Tiger Woods spending the next ten years playing sub-standard golf in pain.
