69-53 guys. How do they keep this team out? RPI should bounce ahead of Penn St now. Auburn is a top 25 team RIGHT NOW. What happened the 1st half of the season keeps them from being one, but the past 10 games tells they would be firmly in the top 25. They'll now play the winner of Florida and Arkansas in the quarters. Hopefully Florida gets what's coming to them, because they played like crap today as they have all last half of the conference season.

Still think they have work to do in the SEC tourney. Auburn didn't beat ANYONE during non-conference play. Their best win outside the league is at Virginia, who's 4-12 in the ACC. Auburn lost at home to Mercer, and even with the big win this afternoon, they're still just 2-4 against LSU, Tennessee, So. Carolina, Florida and Kentucky.
10-6 in the SEC doesn't mean much this season.

neither did Penn State guys, and their OOC schedule was MUCH MUCH worse than Auburn's. They won at Georgia Tech. We won at Virginia. No difference except the fact that Auburn actually played more than 2 teams in the RPI 100. And Auburn has by far passed Penn St in playing the best down the stretch. And the media has been all over Penn St. 8 of 9, beating the 2 consensus best teams in the league. How exactly is South Carolina's tournament hopes any different than Auburn's? Kentucky's RPI is no better than Mississippi St's now, and Auburn swept them handedly. If actually winning down the stretch means anything, Auburn is already in. Otherwise leave South Carolina out too. If you don't think these guys aren't already a tournament team, you haven't watched them the past 9 games. only 3 of those were decided by single digits. These weren't close games. They dominated.
Seth Greenberg, stuff it bud. We did our talking on the court. Not arguing a case before a game you think you will lose and did.

Just a thought. Rhode Island lost to UMASS at home. Bubble teams have been dropping like flies lately. That has to play in Auburn's favor

But it's not a Penn State OR Auburn argument. I do tend to agree with you on PSU, though. I think most predictions I've read give the Big 11 too much love - as many as eight teams from that league seems like a stretch.
How well Auburn's played down the stretch will serve them well, but it still doesn't hide their awful non-conference schedule. If it's Florida v. Auburn in the SEC tourney quarters, that may very well be an elimination game, with the loser all but done and the winner in good shape of getting an at-large bid.
If I'm Auburn, I'm hoping all the top seeds from the mid-majors and smaller conferences win their conference tourneys.

I attended the game and it looked like LSU has lost all interest since clinching the conference title. Auburn looked good and ready today, but not like a high powered bcs conference type big boy.

This is the same LSU team I saw when Auburn went to Maravich. Just the refs were more one-sided horrible in that game and Auburn couldn't hit their endless chances at the end to put it away on the road. And don't discount losing against Vandy on Wednesday. They can come in and knock down all their shots and knock off anyone in the country. They have that kind of talent and that's how they beat Auburn. Without Reid might I add. That benching hurt Auburn bad, but just check the box score. They COULDN'T miss. It wasn't possible. They were like 80% from 3 and 70% from the field. They were similar in LSU Wednesday night. Don't act like that loss to a lights out Vandy team damages any success Auburn should gain from today. NO ONE wants this team in the SEC tournament. Even the typical arragant Kentucky fans this week have spoken out about it
Not like a BCS conference big boy? Well they are, big boy. And a very entertaining one at that. Ask South Carolina which team they'd want to face. The team they faced early in their game with Auburn or the one that gave it away by half time? Or the current one that wouldn't have let USC off the ropes?

I'm a huge Gator fan and we are not a very good team. The game versus UK today was a terrible display of basketball. We didn't win because we were good, we won because UK was so bad. Our team is soft as cotton and miss having any bigs as a result of the NBA. Next year we are going to be loaded and I think we will make a run in the tourney. This year I won't be disappointed if we missed the dance because the NIT maybe better experience at this point because they could make a deeper run.
That said, the media has killed the SEC this year and I promise you that the SEC is going to surprise everyone once again. Auburn is a very good team and could very well get on a run into the elite eight or even final four. Mark my words, the SEC will have 2 teams in the elite eight and one team in the final four this year. Watch. LSU, Auburn and UT have the talent. They are all strong teams that play defense and are very fast. The guard play is very good as well.
The SEC is a young league that has gotten better as the season progressed. They've beaten up on each other in conference but watch them shine in the tourney. The Big10 and Big East are both over rated IMO.

Mac, that's nice to hear and I would love it to happen, but 1 in the elite eight is what I see. But what you can't predict is how far LSU and Auburn can go. The cream of the crop in the SEC. Why? Look at the last 10 games head to head. Auburn with 4 seniors (3 actual players) and LSU with 5. Look where they're both at. Getting better and better. The media wants to throw out this Auburn team? The 2nd best/most veteran team in the SEC? Because Vandy shot lights lights out and beat them? What if Bama beats Tennessee tomorrow? It can and will happen if they shoot Ole Miss like. Auburn has beat the most talented AND the most veteran team in the SEC the past 9 games. What the hell is the media thinking? Pick 10 non-lock at-large teams that deserve in over Auburn. South Carolina, Penn St? That's two incorrect answers right off

I have to agree with unde here. I watched this LSU team get creamed by a mediocre Utah team back in the begining of January. I know you can say but LSU has got better. My first thought would be, yeah but Utah has become better too. But then reality hits and I remeber the SEC just sucks! I won't be suprised when the selection commity selects 2 or more SEC teams into the dance becuase they are from the SEC. But if they make it to the second round of the tourney I will be totally suprised.
