Never understood why people don't answer the phone if it is from a number they don't recognize. My brother does this as well.

What is the big deal? If it is someone you don't want to talk to/telemarketer/etc, you can just hang up.

Dave I answer if they show their number and I dont recognize.

I do not answer if they use software that blocks people from seeing their number. It shows up as like all 0s or restricted number, shit like that.

Because when you answer an unidentified call you place the serenity of your day in the hands of another. You have to seize the power and force people to identify themselves before they are granted an audience with you.

In case some didn't know, that's the genesis of the appelation "Hoosier" for a resident of the state of Indiana. Back when Indiana was the Western frontier of the United States, it became local custom for those setting foot on land within sight of a stranger's cabin to holler, "Helloooooo, the cabinnnn!" The resident would then holler back, "Whooooo'sssss-hereeeee?!?" The "hillbilly" accent of the residents at the time led to the two syllables suffering from ellision and it became one word pronounced Hoosier.

Herman is just living up to the reputation of his state by forcing people to identify themselves or be shot straight to voicemail.

You'd waste a single minute (2 tops) if the call wasn't worthwhile.

Sometimes when I arrive early to a doctor's appointment or something and have 15 mins to kill, I'll pull out my cellphone and call an old friend I haven't talked to in months or years just to see how they are doing/catch up for a few mins. Say they got a new phone and don't have my new #, so they don't answer. I leave a message.

Get a call back 15 mins later, but now I'm in that appointment. Now I'm in a game of phone tag with someone I haven't talked to in ages because they didn't just pick up the phone like EVERYONE did before caller ID was invented.
