Nine.com screwing over bettors. WTF is this?
Im sure the bet carried a $35 max limit yet...

    Betting site cancels 'Newlyweds' betting
    Los Angeles | October 08, 2005 12:01:13 AM IST

A Web site stopped taking bets on the future of former Newlyweds Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson after suspicious wagers predicted the couple's demise.

Executives at the online gambling site Nine.com said red flags were raised by a large number of suspicious wagers against the marriage lasting -- all coming from areas where the couple had either lived in the past or currently reside, MTV.com reported Friday.

Rather than lose a bundle to bets based on insider information, the site canceled all wagers on the couple.

Both Simpson and Lachey spent most of this week denying tabloid reports that their marriage is in trouble or has ended.

You know, I haven't heard one good thing about Nine.com. Are there any sportsbooks out there who don't mind being beaten if someone is good or has the right info? It seems anytime a book is at risk, they cancel the bets, cut limits, give different lines, etc. Aren't there any books that can tolerate losing to a few people who might be able to beat them consistently?

      Senator Miers,

I agree. This is bullshat. What did they want the bettor to do make the bet based on what they saw on the fron of Enquirier? Thats just gay especially since when you offer the bet you know that there are people who know the outcome. Maybe they figured those rich Hollywood bastards wouldnt care about 100 bucks.

I wonder if Jessica would have been intelligent enough to place one of the suspicious bets! Talk about insider info...

If they do break up, she immediately becomes the most eligible female on the planet.

I don't know why books keep offering these types of wagers. bodog and wwts have both cancelled wagers on reality tv shows.

Actually Im quite happy as I had a bit of a wedge on them staying together (their form basically led to, I feel, high value odds) but I felt they could patch up their differences and move on together.

I got lucky because I heard the news just before I was about to make a hefty lay on betfair as I became more and more concerned at the reports of marital/emotional difficulties.

isnt a sportsbook job to limit their liability in a situation like this, like a max wager, which im sure there was. If they didnt like getting more bets you cancel all future action, not cancel bets! Total BS

Nine.com did not cancel any pending wagers, we did however stop taking new wagers on this prop. This was misquoted in a press release with someone unfamiliar with the betting industry.

It is important to us to have clear communications with all current and prospective players.

Nine.com has made fair and player freindly service it's #1 priority and we will strive for excellence in all areas. Look for Nine.com to become a must out for the non- professional player in the years to come.
