nice vid, short, to the point, informative.
Dallas though, is completely schizo, I don't feel comfortable taking them in general this year unless I'm getting plus odds or on the -1.5 puck line.
I do like the under 5.5 in this one a good amount though, I got it at -106. Both teams can disappear on offense, and Turco is playing better as the year goes on. Quick is decent as well. I would have expected a -120 range ML for the under on this total.
Not saying I don't like Dallas here, just that I wouldn't touch a side in this one.
GL everyone, and thanks for the vid VD.

Just figured out how to do this... needs a bit of work obviously but no one watches hockey vids anyway so I thought I'd try it out to see if it'd work

I don't blame you HG... the Kings are the same way. Probably why this line is set where it is; no one knows what the hell to do with these two teams.
Agree the under is a solid play here for the reasons you mention. Quick hasn't been as sharp as he was to start the season, but he should be able to hold the Stars to 2 or 3.
Good luck if you play it

So that rationale accounted for....
isnt there a formidable chance that L.A. might play a more relaxed game (since the P.O.s are definitely out of reach) to give the hometown crowd an entertaining time and in the process tweak a win by disrupting the tempo of the stars (stoppage of play due to fights and such)?
I know it looks like a big "IF" but in the thick of it ....stuff happens before you even notice it....
(like the Bruins-'Otes game - the game just flew by with Phoenix snatching it)

Not at all pocketlint! I use that logic in football all the time, when a team fighting for a playoff spot faces a team with nothing to lose (especially a division rival), you see upsets all the time.
The reason that didn't sway me is the Kings never seem to play loose at home; on the contrary, they seem to try to hard in front of the home fans. They are 1 - 5 - 2 in their last 8 at home, and have been shut out something along the lines of 6 time at home.
If they weren't such a bad home team, I'd definitely have given stronger consideration to your angle

Dallas/LA I could not wager. Seems like nothing there.

I understand... just feel like getting the better team with more motivation against a bad home team that just lost a top scorer was worth a shot at -110.
Dallas up 3 - 0 with a little under 5 mins left in the 2nd.

3 goals scored in that little under 5 mins
4 - 2 Stars, 12 even left to go.

Kings make it 4 - 3 with 3:18 left... just pouring it on here in the 3rd, outshooting the Stars 15 - 3 this period.

allwater, lets be honest here, vegasdave did jinx your pick tonight, you are just being nice now.
boys, i am sorry about the loss tonight.. it was a tough one. but that's sports for you.. but i still say my loss was tougher. i swear i had SJ -220 at wsex tonight.. sj up 3-0 and coasting. i turn the DEN game and bam, it's 3-3, and then SJ lose in OT.. we had similar losses tonight, but mine might be a tad worse. sj up 3-0 at home, and lose.. what were the odds?

Haha well thank you, but on a loss like that, you have to blame anyone in a 1000 mile radius.
It isn't your fault... you weren't the one that decided to only play 40 minutes of hockey tonight. Very strange 3rd period for the Stars.

Against the Wild no less, not exactly a team known for being offensively explosive.
I agree Nicky, yours was brutal... both of our losses give up 3 - 0 leads... rough night.

sheeeez..
Your vid, which I watched very close to the game last night, made me believe that the DALLAS-L.A. game was going to be a lack luster affair (although I had already placed a huge chunk on the game going over, earlier in the day).
So I bet heavy on Dallas thinking that they wud "tweak" a 1-goal victory in a largely dull game (kinda like the Boston-Phoenix game).
Sure proved me wrong. Amen.

The game was going exactly as I expected it would when it was 3 - 0 Dallas with 5 mins left in the 2nd.
I didn't see 3 goals happening in those 5 mins, and then the ice being tilted completely in the Kings favor for the entire 3rd period. Dallas should be better than that.
Strange game. Since I've been a mod, I've been snake-bitten on these close games. But then, I've been snake-bitten my whole handicapping career, so I can't blame being a mod. Hopefully baseball season will shake things up for the better

This game was yesterday, and I didn't go into details on the goalie matchup because I just wanted to keep it sweet and see if I could get that graphic to work.

Like I said, I didn't get in depth at all in this vid... but you are right, goalie matchups are key.
