If its supposedly illegal to be betting online, why is that these professinal poker players always talk about all the money they make online?

It seems if its illegal, these high profile names would be bringin false attention to themselves.

well, when you see those chris moneymaker commercials and whatever, pay attention to how they say the play at pokerstars.net or fulltiltpoker.net, the .net is the key part because technically the .com sites are the ones that are for real money. so with that loophole they aren't admitting anything except that they play online poker for play chips

I dont know. There was even a article earlier this year about Florida basketball player Nick Calathes owing some poker site a couple hundred bucks. I have know idea. It is supposedly illegal but noone that I know goes down for it.

As far as I am aware only the following States have laws against online gambling, unless something was past recently...

Michigan, Illinois, Louisiana, Oregon, Wisconsin, Washington, Indiana, Nevada, New York, New Jersey and South Dakota.

States like Texas only forbid it in a public setting, but you are allow to gamble online privately.

So, it depends on your state... Now there is no real Federal Law against it, well, the wire act of 1961 is more for taking bets not placing them...
