Sean Avery claimed by the Rangers

This really shouldn't come as a surprise. He played there before, familiar with a lot of the players that are there and you know he can handle the NY media as he did it before. In a city like NY he isn't the story all the time, there are so many stars and celebrities in the paper all the time he isn't commanding as much of the attention as he was when he was in Dallas.

horrible player...the nhl announcers say the nhl needs a player like him...i say they are morons and so is he....hes going to drive the nhl to bad standing like he has allready done...just like the nfl, with all them players shooting each other, on drugs etc etc...the nhl is not that kind of sportand thanks to the rangers it will be

plus you had to expect it...the rangers chemistry only lasted in the beginning of the season when all the other teams had to build their chemisrty..and now they suck suck suck suck

He isn't a horrible player skill-wise... in fact, he's an above-average 3rd liner.

But he takes tons of stupid penalties, gets called on everything he does, and starts shit with his own players in the locker room.

There is a reason Dallas didn't want him back, and it wasn't PR.

Trust me I know all about him. I'm in Canada remember. We get the dirt all the time.

I am just giving the guy a 2nd chance and I think Torts will help him along. Tortorella has mellowed out a lot and has admitted so. Dave do you ever tune into Canada's CBC or TSN?

If he were a keeps-to-himself asshole, like say Barry Bonds, I'd agree with you.

But when you negatively affect locker room chemistry, it is a big deal.

He does have some skill. He is a solid third liner, and can play second line in certain situations. But I don't think his attitude is worth it. But some do.

Fair enough... I'm burned out on second chances, sorry, have given him 3 or 4 already

I don't get the chance very often, but I am always on the live feed online for draft and trade deadline coverage.

I just don't buy that he's completely reformed. He may be on his best behavior and do some good work with the Rangers... but he'll get back to his old antics sooner or later.

I still think that he has changed. I think the shrinks got to him and got him on some meds. I think you will see a different Sean Avery, but of course I could be wrong. I think it's going to be interesting.

That is a good point, I know their record is miles better with him in the lineup. But he isn't really a great scoring threat, which they really need right now. But he is a decent skater, so I think he fits Torts system pretty well.
