MNF, ESPN commentator just advised tv viewers to "take the under in this game"...
an obvious point given the 0-0 score in the 2nd quarter.

although someone should tell them you can only place a live bet now, and the under is sure to have decreased.

    but regardless....

the damn announcer just made a harmless gambling reference, as do all the other announcers and EVERY fan on a daily basis.

Yet BILL FRIST (pseudo-intellectual turned rightwing nutjob Senator) wants to attach an anti-gambling measure to the upcoming large military bill.

So I can take my hard-and-legally-earned money to the nearest gas station and buy one hundred $1 lottery tickets in the hopes of hitting that somewhat elusive $50 million jackpot, but I can't make an informed decision on what teams will win their games. What the hell is going on in this country?
    FÛCK YOU BILL FRIST.

also, i find this little tidbit interesting...
    gambling on sports = bad
gambling on insider stock tips = good (bet no one knew about this)

"The Associated Press reported that Frist sold his HCA shares, which had been in a blind trust, two weeks before the company announced that earnings would not meet expectations, which caused a substantial drop in the share price. A spokeswoman said that Frist told the trustee who managed his HCA shares to sell them on June 13, and Frist had no control over the exact date when they were sold. Frist further claimed that the order was given to avoid allegations of conflict of interest over his participation in healthcare legislation, and that he possessed no non-public information when the stock was sold. The U.S. Attorney for the Southern District of New York has issued subpoenas to investigate the sale, and the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission is investigating. Frist has retained the Washington, D.C. law firm of Wilmer Cutler Pickering Hale and Dorr to defend him in connection with these investigations."

WSEX live betting does not lower the total. If it was early 2nd qtr the price would have been approx. -400.

Frist is a sleazy politician and gambles on the stock market. But he wants to put people in jail for 5 years if they bet $10 on the super bowl over the internet. Nice!
