International Futbol Thread for Friday Feb 27

There's a lot of games here and there in different leagues I haven't done before, today is an experiment to see how well I can do!

Ukranian League

11am EST Metalurg Donetsk -1 over FC Kryvbas

- apart from their tough name Kryvbas they've also given Donetsk trouble in the past. Donetsk has never done the double over Kryvbas.. but I think that ends today. Donetsk has a great record at home (7-1) limiting opponents to 4 goals while scoring 14 themselves. Kryvbas are gonna try and hold out 0-0 since they have trouble scoring away but Metalurg are doing as well as they ever have in the Ukranian League, and I think they'll buck another trend today! Prediction: 2-0 Donetsk

German 2. Bundesliga

12pm EST SC Freiburg over SV Wehen Wiesbaden

-The only blips on Freiburg's away record are against top home teams such as Kaiserslautern, Aachen, Nurnberg, struggling with two mid-table clubs. But the important thing is they've beaten all the bottom clubs they've encountered, home and away. There seems to be a different mentality there that allows them to beat these struggling clubs. It's bottom vs top club, and top clubs usually win these, though not very easily. Prediction: 1-0 or 2-1 Freiburg.

12pm EST Mainz to draw/win against FC Nurnberg

Mainz are on a mission this season. This game pits one of the top home teams against THE top away team, I will always take the away team. The can set the tempo, get the home team out of rhythm, frustrate them and make them give up. Mainz has a better record home than away, and this stern test will give them what they crave, a chance to put away one of the many teams in the promotion race.

Romanian Liga I

12pm EST FC Universitatea Craiova to draw/win against FC Politehnica Iasi

- The away team has never won a match between these two! But then again Craiova is doing their best in years, and Iasi are in the relegation zone for one of the first times. Iasi are a decent home team, they can beat those around them at the bottom but usually draw or lose against the middle/top clubs. Craiova, looking at the records, has usually had a bad away record but they're changing their tune this year, resulting in some of their best table results in years. Sixth place losing only twice away from home, once against top Dinamo Bucarest and once in the first game of the season. Prediction: 1-0 or 1-1 Craiova.
