So many in the Rock/Metal genre that would deserve more attention than the shit that is played on radio, MTV or wherever.

Weezer is huge, Brock. I dunno what you're talking about. The Buddy Holly video was on the ****ing Windows 95 CD, for ****'s sake.
First rock show I've been to, too. 1994, I was 16. I took up guitar partly 'cause of Weezer.

just saying Matt, they seem to be under the radar, like no where near a pearl jam or U2 level, but i'll be damned if they don't pump out hit after hit

Weezer is seriously huge, Brock, even more so than Pearl Jam IMO. I'm pretty sure they sold more records than PJ. They probably got a lot less media exposure than other bands, though... Rivers Cuomo is a reserved dude.
Weezer is/was big with the ladies and sensitive college boys.

They are pretty bad, besides a few songs. Hash Pipe was the last song they released that was any good. Their new stuff is god awful.

It's been the same stuff over and over again. Still, unique sound IMO.
I miss the grunge era.

I am not a Weezer fan by any means but that song is a catchy tune.

Weezer's blue album is deserted island material for me. Very few albums sound better when cranked up to 11. Distorted-power-chord heaven.

Agreed, they can't sing in tune to save their life. I've seen worse though - RHCP's Anthony Kiedis is the KING at butchering his own songs. Oh my God, my poor ears.

As for the original intent of this thread, I have to say Sonic Youth. They're seen as this outdated hipster band, but they're true timeless geniuses.

Pearl Jam chose to step away from the game in 95, they sold 1 mil copies of their sophomore album in the first week, which was unheard of at the time, that record stood for five or so years... THAT BEING SAID...
Not many bands can tour the world and sell out any coliseum or arena in any city they choose. They don't get the recognition because they don't choose to kiss anyone's ass, they have always done it their own way... There is no better band in the world IMO.....

There are 100's of better bands. PJ is generic hard rock.

Vitalogist, i love Pearl Jam and have since i remember Evenflow 1st on the radio in 1992. There is still no better time for music in my opinion than 1991-1995, SO much good shit then its amazing.
Pearl Jam puts on a fabulous live show too, saw em in 95 at soldier Field in Chicago and various other times after, never been dissapointed.

For sure, that whole Apocalyptica album is great. The song with Corey Taylor - I'm not Jesus, is my favorite on the album.

Yea, I've lived here my whole life... I've always wished I'd been born about five years earlier - My life changed one day in 1992 when I was 15, I bought Ten and Nevermind on the same day... I saw about every band that mattered from here EXCEPT Nirvana....
