PORT ST. LUCIE - Jon Niese, Bobby Parnell and prospect Dillon Gee each tossed a pair of no-hit innings in Monday's intrasquad game, while Jerry Manuel watched in the shallow outfield. The manager took the unique vantage point as he spent time instructing Jose Reyes.
"I really enjoy being behind the shortstop, seeing what he's thinking," Manuel said.
Fernando Tatis was scratched from the lineup after waking up at 3 a.m. with a sore right palm.
John Maine, Freddy Garcia and J.J. Putz are scheduled to pitch Tuesday's intrasquad game. Afterward, Putz will head home to Arizona, where doctors intend to induce labor at midnight and his wife Kelsey plans to give birth to the couple's third child.
