Use to have cherry masters & slots at the place I worked at in college. Would wait until some poor degen unloaded their paycheck into one then come behind and clean up. Those things are programed to pay out a certain percentage of what they take in. Have to pay attention to see if they're winning anything before they go busto then go in for the kill.
How do gambler in Vegas actually make money?

#39Where you gonna live Bear? In your car or out of a hotel room?
Cost of living out there is astronomical. I know several people who play poker for a living and it's so much more to it than just being "a winning player". I've seen some of them go busto as they've succumbed to the pit or they didn't have a budget planned and expenses caught up with them.
That's not to say it can't be done, but the people who make it happen are few and far between usually start off having a second source of income out there to help them get started aka a J-O-B
I live in Miami Beach. You want expensive ? Come out my way.Comment -

#40Yeah, no doubt. Vancouver, BC here.....was rated the most expensive city in the world last year when compared with average earnings. I go to Vegas and laugh at the cost of living....and taxes? Try living in Canada where I pay close to 50% of my income right to the government.Comment -

#42It's not "cheap as shit". There's more to cost of living than rent. It's less than living in Miami Beach, but probably comparable to Miami-Dade. I'm not a realtor or an economist but I'd guess Vegas is far above the national average. Besides the point, what gambler can live within their means? Can they walk by the baccarat or craps table after a big win and not sit down? Probably like .0001% of them can.Comment -
