Pittsburgh/ Uconn commentary with selections
Tonight on ESPN (7:00PM) #4 Pittsburgh squares off against #1 Connecticut at the XL Center in Hartford, Connecticut. Uconn has beaten Pittsburgh 3 or the last 4 and a win tonight would represent one of the best starts in this programs storied history Both of these teams are undefeated on neutral courts. Pitt remains undefeated at home and 5-2 on the road. The huskies recorded their only loss against Georgetown in December. Pittsburgh has been on a hot double-digit annihilation of their last 5 opponents.
Pittsburgh played a superb game against Cincinnati on Saturday shooting in the high 60% range for the 40 minutes. Five players posted double digits-- Field’s scored 11 with 13 assists and demonstrated command of the rock with no turnovers. The Panther’s secondary was on fire. This team is undeniably one of the best in the league both offensively as well as defensively --- don’t expect many turnovers.
Uconn’s Hasheem Thabeet nearly missed the triple double against Seton Hall. Outside Thabeet, the rest of the huskies played relatively poorly against Seton Hall---I anticipate a bounce back to the the norm. Uconn’s lineup is equally strong on both defense as well as offense as the Panther’s…don’t expect a Saturday repeat ---the huskies lineup averages double digit double rebound games. This will be a close one.
