    These Moves Stink
Both of these firings suck. The Penguins can a guy who took them to the Stanley Cup Finals and the Phoenix Suns give up on a guy barely four months into his contract.

One scapegoat on the coaching staff is always going to be cheaper and easier than the 10 real causes on the bench...or the one main cause in the front office.

All I know is the Rangers are more exciting to watch now than in recent years.

        What an excellent team.

Being a Pens fan, I have to say I really don't think them firing Therrian was a bad move. Everything I am reading is that the team wasn't buying into his defensive approach any more. He had lost the clubhouse and the players wanted to go back to playing an up tempo offensive type of game.

The Penguins have too many weapons on offense to only be scoring on the Powerplay 16% of the time which ranks them 24th. I realize that Gonchar (who runs the PP for them) is injured but that still isn't any excuse. Gonchar is close to coming back so that should be another shot in the arm for them for the home stretch.

            Agreed.

These tough coaches are only effective if the players respect them and their system. No matter how angry you get and no matter how much louder you yell, if your players aren't buying into the system, it isn't a good fit.

I've always thought it would be tough to a coach when your players make more than you do. Like every coach in sports. A coach is only as effective as hist employers. That's why the Steelers are so consistent year in and year out. Ownership doesn't meddle.
