It's coming up on state tournament time in most states.Anyone here ever play in any kind of a state tournament? In Minnesota we had just one division in hockey and basketball many years ago and it garnered much more attention and a fan base than it does now with so many divisions you lose track of.It's no longer a big show but many little shows that no one pays attention to.It's a total socialist feel good approach to wanting to make the little half ass schools feel good that they accomplished some meaningless symbol.

The hockey tournament when it was single division was the biggest state tournament in the whole country. You had to be put on a waiting list for decades or inherit ticket holding rights. Now you can walk up to the ticket window 2 minutes before a game and buy tickets.

Every now and then you would get a team like Hoosiers that would win the whole thing. If I wer a kid playing hockey,I would rather not make it to the tournament at all or get beat in the tournament playing against the best division 1 teams than to win the whole tournament in some watered down division 2 tournament.

You can't blame kids who are talented and whose parents spent a ton of money and effort getting their kid transfered to a top notch school or even sending the kid to play juniors in Canada instead of squandering the kid's talent playing in a Mickey Mouse league tournament.Sidney Crosby was recruited to play here for a year and that was weird to see a top notch Canadian playing Mickey Mouse tournament hockey.
