The problem with the stimulus package
The biggest threat that the so-called stimulus package poses to the Amerikan economy is the opportunity cost. The bill is bad in and of itself, nothing in it is really going to help fix what is wrong with the economy, but the opportunity cost is a killer.
This money that is being wasted will not then be available to fund policies and programs that could have fixed the root causes of the problems in the economy. Opportunity cost is the cost of NOT having something because you spent scarce resources on something else. It's like when you have $100 and you can either buy food for your kids or gasoline for your car. Tough choice, but either choice means you can't have the other desperately needed item.
There are a number of policies that could have gone a long way to fix the root causes of the economic problems but the money that could have been spent on those is instead being wasted on things like giving $200 million to the Philippino veterans of WWII. (No, I did not make this up).
Obama is proving to be what I expected. An inexperienced, incompetent blow hard who, because of his inexperience, thought that ideology could fix tough problems and is now finding out that the problems he is facing are not solved by sound bites. And since he has no experience in complex problem solving he has no clue as to what to do. He is also showing an uncanny ability to pick total incompetents to fill the positions so critical to good policy and decision making on issues that will impact his ability to come up with valid solutions to the problems we face.
The fact that there was zero discussion about this so-called stimulus package is also troubling. Obama doesn't even know how to analyze a problem. The so-called stimulus bill is the typical kind of "you support my campaign and I will throw you some pork" bullshit that the Democrats are so great at. There was ZERO attempt made to analyze the root causes of the problems facing our economy and develop programs and policies that address those root causes. Hell, the Obama Nation wouldn't have even had to do this analysis themselves, there are many very competent organizations that have already done most of the analysis.
And, to top off all of that, the Democrats have adopted the same "the debate is over" propaganda tactic that they used to silence opposition to the global warming nonsense. So, there was not even a discussion of the items that made it into the so-called stimulus bill as to what effectiveness they would have on fixing the root causes of the economic problems.
Obama is going to crash and burn in the next 12 months. I just hope that hard working Americans don't crash and burn with him.Comment -
