I believe you are over-thinking it. Archie and 5teamer and Bread do not strike me as a psycho-killing team. I don't doubt they do some killing here and there but I feel sure it's all just spur-of-the-moment stuff.
No, in my experience, when people talk about "making it" they are almost always referring to becoming a single, middle-aged guy with a cat.
