I flew on Continental this morning... Colgan flight 3407 en route to Buffalo, Cause of crash, sleet and rain. 49 reportedly dead but the FAA said only 44 on board. no survivors. 1 person on the ground reported dead.

This brings up something that I stand by and that's that I do not fly in bad weather. I don't travel to cities that have snow, rain, hail, lightning, fog, smog, etc... I wait it out. I've had many people rag me for this but I stand by my guns. I researched hundreds of plane crashes and pilot error, mechanical problems and weather are the top 3 causes for a crash. You may not be able to control the first two (although I try to talk to the pilot before we leave just to make sure there not drunk) you can certainly control flying in bad weather.

I have never had any problems telling airline personnel to rebook me because I don't fly in the rain. They have always accommodated. That's pretty telling in itself.

Unbelievable, they are reporting 49 people died. Very sad.

The pilots of a commuter airliner that crashed late Thursday about 6 miles from a Buffalo, New York, airport discussed "significant ice buildup" on the plane's wings and windshields before the plane plunged to the ground, killing 50.

Technically, pilot error and flying into bad weather are pretty closely related.

Me and my friends have flown that route on more than a few occasions going to the Meadowlands in Jersey to watch my horses race. It's an eerie feeling.

man...I dont like to fly...planes can only handle so many flight hours before the sheer force weakens the plane...they are to be retired but its cheaper to run them into the ground then to scrap them...some of this junk is 0ver 10-20 years old...even though this particular plane was only one year old,I still question the equipment on them...
