#2The USD is a major currency, the Canadian dollar is a "secondary" currency. Supply/demand and many other factors to get into detail about.Originally posted by wild willyCanada has less debt, less peopleand more natural resources
The Canadian Dollar is strong, the fact that it is not worth as much as the US dollar is misleading, the Canadian dollar has lots of buying power in almost every country outside of the USA. The US Dollar was king for so many years, it may take quite a while for it's expected devaluation.Comment -

#8For such a smart guy I would have figured even you would understand the definition of less.Originally posted by duritoWhat do you mean by less?
Seriously though, I think he's referring to the difference in exchange rate between the two currencies since they share the same name 'the dollar".
That should clear it up for ya pal.
Can't wait for your response/possible insult.

#10Betplom thinking of buying a new or 1 year old vehicle if the dollar goes up and vehicle sales are still slow do you think buying that vehicle in the states would be a better deal after taxes and duty. lets just say the can dollar is around .90Comment -

You must be mellowing, because I sensed you were simply asking questions of mr Willy in order to fire a shot at him.
I was truly shocked/impressed that you laid off.Comment -

Personally I'd not buy a car from the US to be brought into Canada, deals will be excellent here if you have cash and are looking to buy.
There are too many possible complications/headaches associated with bringing a car into Canada, much easier just to buy it here.Comment -

#17Think of exchange rates as being based upon the relative prices in two different countries. If one basket of goods costs US$100 in America and CAD$150 in Canada then $1US=$1.50CAD. Just because both currencies are called dollars doesn't mean that they should always be swapped at a 1:1 ratio.Originally posted by wild willyCanada has less debt, less peopleand more natural resourcesOriginally posted by pags11SBR would never get rid of me...ever...Originally posted by BuddyBearI'd probably most likely chose Pags to jack off too.Originally posted by curioustaco is not a troll, he is a bubonic plague bacteria.Comment -

#21When basic cost differences are taken into account (transportation costs, tax levels plus whatever I've left out) I'd say that the actual price is pretty close to the US price, adjusted for the exchange rate (assuming - perhaps unrealistically - that the purchasing power parity theory of exchange rates holds 100% for gas). Not really an expert in relative gas prices between countries. I know that prices are over $7 a gallon in the UK (and similarly high throughout most of Europe) but that's primarily due to much higher levels of tax.Originally posted by pavyracertaco,

#23Gas is usually cheaper in the states. I always fill up when I'm across the boarder. It's $0.95/Litre in Vancouver right now, works out to be $3.08/Gallon US.Comment -
