    OT: CocaCola payrate question
Anyone know what the payrate for a machine operator for CocaCola in the Rochester or Buffalo area in NY is?

I'd be lucky if a entry level machine operator in this area gets $13.

The wage disparity between Western New York and Ontario is quite large even with the exchange difference between $USD/$CAD, transit drivers here earn $26 an hour, rookie cops start at $58,000 a year with many cops making close to $100K.

Unionized construction workers make $31 an hour and up.

and a carton of smokes cost $50 also, right
different wages mean nothing with different living expenses.

True, tobacco and alcohol costs are much higher here, income taxes are generally higher than the USA but not by as much as people believe, the difference is Canadian tax payer dollars go towards health care, education, roads and other services for Canadians, a University education is much less expensive here as well.

It seems as though a large portion of US tax dollars are spent on the military, which is a fine military for sure but it doesn't solve the problems of average citizens.

Canada is far more "socialist" than the USA and it costs money to be that way, yet Canada is much more fiscally responsible than the US and our government has reduced our debt and run budget surpluses for years up until this year where we will run a deficit.

Willy, I know it pal, I have Canadian and American family members that have lived in both countries, all reside in Canada now.

There will always be differences of opinion and I don't care to argue which country has the "better" system as neither can be proven, I will say that Americans tend to be much less confident/untrusting in their government and would rather big business handle things where here we want less big business and will tolerate more government.

I know that we enjoy just as many (if not more) freedoms as Americans and Canadians aren't leaving this country for America in droves. America is a great place to visit, but I much prefer living in Canada.
