SBR Fantasy Baseball 2009: Sign-up Thread

Alright I know its early and there has only been a bit of buzz of here about Fantasy Baseball but I want to get some responses here to a proposed idea.

How much would you pay to enter a SBR League?

What style do you perfer (ROTO or 5x5 or Matchup's)?

How would you like the prize structure to work?

Would you be willing to split the league start-up fee (usually $15-$20)?

Would you be willing to add to the prize pool $10 trades and/or $2 free agent pick-ups (amounts negociable)?



While I know I'm a rookie here compared to the legends of this forum I am asking that you do not respond to this unless you have at least 100 posts and have been here before January 2009 to ensure that we have legit players.

My Original Proposal:

12 Man League

Match-up style (Think Fantasy Football)

8 Men make the playoffs

Live Draft through CBS

$100+20 ($100 goes to prize pool, $20 goes to commish to buy their $149.99 plan and maintain records and league control, this includes shipping fee of the Championship Trophy to the winner.

Prize money will be secured by commish either in exclusive bank account or paypal account for ease of access.

Pay-Outs:

1st. $700 (+50% of bonus pool)
2nd. $250 (+30% of bonus pool)
3rd. $125 (+10% of bonus pool)
4th. $125 (+10% of bonus pool)

Bonus Pool:

Beyond the $1,200 prize pool I would like to institute a bonus pool to fluff up the winnings and encourage intelligent decision making between owners.

Trades will cost each owner $5
Free Agent pick-ups will cost $2

Interest will pick up as we get closer to opening day. I would like to have the league paid, drafted, and ready by no later than April 3rd but I imagine we will have a fair share of last minute add-ons here.

Head to Head...and each match up lasted 1 week.

There were like 26 stats b/t batters and pitchers.

After each week, the results would carry over into next week. As in, if you were 16-9-1 in the 26 stats, your record would be 16-9-1. Next week, you go 11-12-3. Your new record is now 27-21-4. And it keeps going like that.

You obv. play everyone more than once.

I think that's basically it.

I'm interested and would play. Let me know if my rules from last year is like your rules this year.

That is very close to what I am looking at.

I doubt that I will have 26 stat catagories I believe it will be narrowed down to less than 20 between batters and pitchers but it will still be pretty indepth.

Records would be ideally W's and L's that carry over so if you beat me it would only carry over as 1-0 not full statistical transfers. I will look into this but it may be a bit much for a first year SBR pay league.

i'm going to class now, but I can talk a bit more later, but I did this league through ESPN.com, and that's how you can do it to carry over the big records. I think in the long run, it may be better having let's just say 10-8 record than 1-0.

5x5 is going to be a base for the system, I would like to go 5x5 style with MAYBE extra categories. Weekly face-offs and whoever puts up the better 5x5 or 8x8 (you get the picture) grabs the win.

No but we can bat around an idea on what will work for hopefully everyone, if not the majority of people. I would like to have it around the end of march so we don't have to deal with preseason injuries and unsigned free-agents.
