    Guy Lafleur is an IDIOT
    What a complete idiot.

MONTREAL - Hockey legend Guy Lafleur has been ordered to stand trial on a charge of obstruction of justice.

A judge in Montreal has dismissed Lafleur's bid to have legal proceedings against him dropped.

His trial has been scheduled for April 16 and 17.

Guy Lafleur originally agreed to supervise his son Mark after he was awarded bail and to ensure he abided by a court-ordered curfew.

But it was later revealed the elder Lafleur actually drove his son to a hotel so he could spend time with a girlfriend.

It was months later that a warrant was issued for the Montreal hockey icon, causing a media frenzy after headlines announced he was a wanted man.

Lafleur has launched a $3.5-million civil suit against the police and the Crown over the warrant because he believes it violated his rights and humiliated him.

He must take after his dad. How could Guy Lafleur be so dumb? Is it because he is a Frenchie? Those darn Quebecers.

I used to have Guy Lafleur posters on my wall when I was a kid. Yvan Cournoyer was my favorite but Lafleur was up there. My brother's main guy was Ken Dryden - but he had room for Guy Lafleur too.

I feel like I should come charging to the defense of Guy Lafleur. Let's see what I can do . . .

Hmmm. I don't quite see how this story leads to the conclusion that he's an idiot. Is it because of the lawsuit? It certainly sounds frivolous. The idiotic thing to me though is that frivolous lawsuits so often do so well in our society.

I don't know. I feel like I am missing a lot of details here.

Wouldn't call Lafleur an idiot, but he *is* a simple man.

Seems to be little more than a lack of judgement and an overabundance of fatherly love in this particular case. His son seems like the biggest pain in the ass ever.

Go look up the definition of idiot. Lafleur is a simple man (idiot).

As much as I liked Lafleur, I have to admit this: he had one of the worst all-time sports nicknames.

The Flower. Come on. Someone in the early going needed to come up with a real nickname for the guy. Scrap Iron or Lightning or some damn thing.

                  Anything but The Flower.

Didn't even know that was a nickname of his. Here, he is known as "Le Démon Blond", literally The Blond Demon.

Now see that's several billion times better than The Flower. That's what I'm talkin' about.

He needed some kind of Public Relations help to push it on the English TV people. Cuz all I ever heard was The Flower.

Yeah The Flower is a horrible nickname. Guy had 6 KILLER seasons. After 79/80 he was just a typical player.

Guy Lafleur was no Mike Bossy fellas. Mike Bossy was 10 times better than Lafleur. Hell I'd even say that Brian Trottier was WAY better than Lafleur.

Interesting bit of trivia: both Bossy and Lafleur smoked cigarettes in their heydays.

I hear Lafleur smoked more than those dirty rotten cancer sticks. And it wasn't drugs that he was smoking.

                              One minute was that Richer?

                                  Buzzy,

I hate Don Cherry. It doesn't surprise me that Cherry never gives him any recognition of Fool's Corner. If Bossy were from Kingston he'd be bigger than Bobby Orr and Gretzky combined.

Mike Bossy was SICK. The guy had an accurate shot like no one else. With a wooden stick at that.

60's? I remember seeing him play, and I don't remember much before 1986. Got a couple of worn-down Börje Salming cards somewhere.

Salming was a 70's player, but the Leafs last success was in the 60's.

Although Habs fans refuse to believe it they are in for a long draught without the Cup in Montreal.
This is justice for Leaf fans.

Right, its been 15 years without a cup in Montreal, hopefully they are at least another 15 years away from another finals appearance.

Years of going without has become normal here in Toronto, we don't suffer anymore, however in Montreal 15 years is an eternity without Coupe Stanley, I'll gladly go another 45 years without a cup in Toronto as long as Montreal does the same, and they will, Montreal is not what they once were and that hurts, at least you have the memories.

Matty don't be so thick pal, Toronto has won two World Series Championships, which is much bigger than a Stanley Cup win. We have "won it all" pal, remember Toronto is a sports city with more than one game in town.
