I don't particularly question SBR's decision. Who are they going to get? Bob Woodward?

But I just learned today that Dave is actually packing up his life and moving to take the job. Obviously the wisdom of that depends on the remuneration. I don't know those details. But unless he is getting a hell of a lot more than any mod I ever talked to about this - and/or maybe he's running from something where he was - I am really dumbfounded. Packing up and moving. To be a moderator.

If it was a close friend, I would try really hard to talk him out of it.

I'm not meaning to be hard on him. Sorry if that's how it sounds.

I think the job involves a little more than purely moderating the forum which can be done from anywhere, hence the move to Texas. Similarly CrazyL doesn't just moderate the forum, he's also taking How To Grade A Contest 101 at the local community college as well as other duties. Well actually re-taking since he failed last semester.

i too find it weird that he's leaving his family and life to do this in another life and country.. i thought he was joking when he said he's packing his stuff.. but he wasn't.. i guess my prediction might be right. davey might be pulling in 5k a month for this job. i doubt he'd leave GF, job and parents back home for 500 a month. He must have a bigger job than BBD and general because they both got to stay home for this.. Good luck and Congrats davey boy..

I have a feeling this is the case.

We have to be persistent and find out the truth. Ill be pissed (jealous) if hes making over 40k.

If it is more than moderating then I retract my statement. VD would be a great hire because he is a intelligent young man. I thought it was strictly for moderating.
