Nicky - The HAB nots are falling back to earth.
Looks like there is a possibility that the parade will be canceled Nicky. Montreal may not make the playoffs.

Well to be fair, they were fine until they lost Lang and Tanguay. Agree that they won't do much in the playoffs now though.

i can't beleive that you, pucker, had to ask this question, and a guy like LT, who is american, and doesnt even follow hockey that much and doesn't know much about the habs, knew they are injured now. the habs whole team is on the shelf. but hopefully when April comes along, they will be healthy and ready to win the cup. i am preparing to be at the stanley cup parade. pucker, i expect to see you there..looking forward to it. but when they do win the cup and we are at parade together, i expect you to buy me dinner after doubting me so much. pucker, this is the best habs team put together since '77, the year they had 132 pts.... (healthy that is..)

see you in June at the parade..

What does being American have to do with anything knowledgeable about hockey?

Not only Canadians can read the injury report ya know.

I was so pumped for the Habs to be good...because I want to see them play the Wings in the finals...and watch Detroit skate all over them =]

A cup-contending team can lose a couple players and persevere. Habs have proven they aren't that team.

It was a good run at the beginning of the season, Nicky. It's over. You can start dreaming about the Alouettes maybe bringing a championship to Montreal.

Habs are too soft period. When comes crunchtime, they'll always fold with this core of players.

Excuses, excuses, excuses. That's all you Habs fans have are excuses. Carey Price has been exposed. The kid needs to work on his glove side as it has been exposed as his #1 weakness.

Nicky, when I come to Montreal I want you to take me to the nearest outdoor rink so we can lace up the blades and have a game of 1 on 1. No goalie. We will set up targets to shoot on. No composites allowed. Winner takes $500.

                I'm dead serious!!!

i will take that challenge, but not on skates.. tough to find a rink here now.. winter is almost over and no way we rent ice time for this..tough to find a rink available in montreal.. but i'll do this for you for 500$ on shoes.. i will supply net and targets.. i am serious.. you don't have a prayer. i could put the puck/ball wherever i aim it.. i am a natural goal scorer. I can put the puck top shelf, where mama hides the cookies, OR i can put it right upstairs, where Norman keeps his mother.. i hardly miss, pucker. you name the date, i am there.

? Not sure what your intention was with this link, but the article debunks the whole "French Canadian advantage" myth. It's a pretty good read actually.

Nicky, gotta admire your optimism. Truth is, our team should be deep enough to win without Lang and Tanguay... for some reason, nearly everyone is playing like doo-doo right now.

the fact is, every team goes through a bad slump during the season and this happens to be the one for us now.. yes, habs are playing shit now, but watch in 1 month from now when habs are 12-2 over 14 games and 3rd best in conference. no one will be talking like this.. we're just coasting now..waiting to get healthy.. wait till the playoffs and everyone's back, minus maybe Lang.. then we'll see how shit you guys think they are.

and pucker, sorry, no skates, only on cement.. I will school you... you'll be apologizing on your knees to me.. i'll hit 9 of 10 targets with my impeccable wrist shot. forget betting with me pucker, i'll make it easier for you, just send me the check in the mail now, you will save on the airfare and hotel.. you're welcome..

Until the Sharks show me otherwise...I'll stick with Detroit.

And it's not like San Jose has even man-handled Detroit during the season.

Should be an interesting playoff run this year...because I still think The Wild are going to surprise people...it's more of a hunch, but who knows.

                                Season series between DET/SJS:

                                SJS up 1-2
                                SJS/DET goals: 10 SJS/13 DET

Game 7 semi's should be a great game between them

I hate the Habs with a passion, but come playoff time I'd take them at even money to beat the Bruins or Caps in a series.

I think any of the Eastern Conference teams have a legit shot of making the Stanley Cup other than the 7/8 seeds (currently Buffalo and Carolina- could be replaced by Florida/Pittsburgh). The top 6 all have a team capable of making a run. I really don't think any of them have a shot in hell of beating either San Jose or Detroit in a series though. I would even say Calgary or Chicago would be favored in the Stanley Cup over any Eastern Conference team.

Plain and simple the champ is coming from the West yet again this year. Detroit/SJS in the West finals will be the real Stanley Cup.

Which bet, that the champ is from the West?

Stanley Cup champion is from the Western Conference, guaranteed. The top four teams in the NHL IMO are currently in the West.

Boston will not do much in the playoffs. I'd be surprised to see them or the Caps in the Stanley Cup, but it's not impossible with how wide open the East is.

Name your amount though and I'm game.

Nicky, look at the injuries the Bruins have had this year, they just keep on adjusting. Montreal has been banged up, but no one is stepping up on that team. Montreal has a lack of leadership, focus, and drive.

Every team has injuries. It is no excuse. The Pens have been without Gonchar the entire season. The problem with the Canadien's is they don't have any great players, besides Markov. They have a bunch of good players. Kosyn brothes, Higgins, Plekanek, Tanguay, Lang, and Kovy, are all good players, all top 6 forwards, but none are game breakers.

Contrast that with the rest of the East:

                                            Boston: Savard, Kessel
                                            New Jersey: Parise
                                            Philly: Carter, Richards
                                            Pittsburgh: Malkin, Crosby
                                            Washington: Ovechkin
                                            Buffalo: Vanek

The question has always been, "Who will step up when the team needs it?", and the answer has always been "I don't know" at best, and "no one" at worst.

Chicago has no chance of winning anything. Their best players have no playoff experience. I would take any Western playoff team over Chicago except Minnesota. In fact the best future I could think of, is taking Chicago not to win the Stanley Cup, if that bet exists.

Calgary is good, but their horrible play away from home coupled with their mediocre goal differential is enough to say they won't beat Detroit or San Jose.

The Bruins, Caps, and Devils would beat Montreal with no problem. The Bruins and Devils are just as likely to win the Cup as San Jose or Detroit.

                                                1) I agree Chicago does not win anything. I do believe though that they are in the top four in the league, after Detroit, San Jose and Calgary. I think those four would all beat any Eastern Conference team in the playoffs. Just my opinion of coarse.

                                                2) Bruins and Devils just as likely as SJ or Detroit? C'mon man, really? I would be surprised if either one of these teams went 6 games with Detroit or SJ if they were to meet in the Stanley Cup finals. Everything I've seen this year shows SJ and Detroit are the best teams in the NHL BY FAR. Would be very surprised if the champ was a team other than those two. Obviously it is possible, but I think it's highly unlikely.

Boston has been great this season, but Tennessee was also the best regular season team in the NFL. I would not even classify the Titans as a top 5 team in reality, just like I am hesitant to classify Boston as a top 5 team. They have to show me something in the playoffs for me to believe in them. I don't care if they don't lose another game this regular season, I will be a doubter until I see something in the playoffs.

San Jose has been very good during the regular season for quite some time now.

The problem seems to be a lack of heart once the post season rolls around, they are notorious playoff chokers and I'll treat them as such until they prove otherwise.
