#108That's the problem. Peyton is like a decade past his prime. HOF-yes, clutch in the playoffs-no.Originally posted by DALLASROBWasn't this argument answered like a decade ago? I don't think the Beatles were that great, whos with me? ...no seriously.
I have a theory on why Peyton is the best-ever regular season QB and "HOF mediocre" in the playoffs, let me break it down. Peyton works harder and gets more out of his innate ability than any other QB, maybe in NFL history. That's great in the regular season when he's hitting the redline all year long and flaying teams like JAX, TEN, HOU, etc. But in the playoffs, he doesn't have an "extra grear" when he runs into a real playoff calibre defense playing like there's no tomorrow, Peyton has already been shifted into high gear all year and the best defenses know exactly what they are getting from him. Compare this to guys like Flacco and Eli who muck around in the regular season, trying to navigate their ever shifting lineup of WRs from year to year, then find another gear in the playoffs after 16 games of tinkering below the radar. I'd even like to suggest that Brady was more like Flacco and Eli early in his career before he got Peyton envy and wanted to toss 40-50 TDs every year. I love this year's Tom Brady in the playoffs because even though his stats don't show it, there's nothing but upside for him & his receivers when the games really matter.Comment -

#109Peyton Manning is only 10 TD's away from breaking Brady's record. He'll probably get 12 since the Broncos will not be able to rest players the rest of the way. The icing on the cake will for him get Brady in Denver for the AFC Championship game at home.Comment -

#114They keep saying Manning can't play in the cold and ironically this is going to be a cold weather Super Bowl. The truth is if he struggles in the Super Bowl it will have more to do with Seattle's D than the weather. But the story will be Manning is a choker who can't handle the elements.Comment -

#119I have a nice sized hunch that Denver's defense will miraculously do a 180 come postseason..
The storybook perfect finish this year is Manning getting the big game choke monkey off his back........
Lay to rest all the doubters of Peyton being the best QB ever..
Then he will announce his retirement right before he says "I'm going to Disneyland" then ride off into the sunset........ Lol...Comment -

#128No doubt the Beatles were very overrated, but mainly because they were so over hyped. Good comparison.Originally posted by DALLASROBWasn't this argument answered like a decade ago? I don't think the Beatles were that great, whos with me? ...no seriously.
Peyton is the same, his teams are always overrated due to his regular season fantasy stats. Realistically, DEN shouldn't be laying more than 3 points hosting SD, especially with their suspect defense. In Peyton's defense, this is the weakest the AFC has looked in decades, he might be able to miracle himself into the Super Bowl, but no way he beats the NFC representative. Nevertheless, betting against the line, nothing but value in fading Peyton ATS in the playoffs right now.Comment -

#131Burn that stat. It's shit. MAYBE if you didn't bring it up it may have been good? But NFL is quick to cripple those stats. I don't see Den going to the SB. If they do? They lose. I don't know any team who'd had the easiest strength of sched and won a SB. But I think he wins this game ATS.Originally posted by PAULYPOKERThis would be the only road block in front of Manning's final destiny.........

#134I'm pulling for my boy Peyton but I don't see how anyone can back Denver -9 here with their defense. They're missing Von Miller, Vickerson, Moore at safety, and Wolfe. SD has hogged the ball in both games and Denver is up tempo on offense which puts the defense back on the field pretty quickly anyway. They need to stop the run and make Rivers have to throw it alot. I see something like Denver 31-24Comment -
