My friend bet 5 figures on the Grand Salami in the NHL Under 44.5 goals. After 7 games the total was at 35. He just had one more game that had to have 9 goals or less. What happened? Sharks just won 9-2 to push the total over and make my friend lose. My friend is going insane right now and he said he might never be the same person when he wakes up next time. Anyone else suffer this defeat tonight like my friend?

#17Do the five figures include the numbers to the right of the dot? Because you should lose that bet on principle alone, putting at least $10,000 on a fvcking hockey salami.

#31For those of you saying Northwestern, I am not so sure. Think about it, what happens more often: A fluky game ending play changing the ATS outcome of a game or double-digits scored in an NHL game? I don't think it is clear-cut.Comment -

#32And yeah, this wasn't even that bad when you think about it. Over 7.5 on that game was +475, couldn't find 8.5 but say it was about +700. Losing a bet worth -110 when the other side was +700 live (which is pretty much what that was) is hardly that bad, it's like complaining about a team blowing a 10pt lead in the 4th in basketball which happens all the time.
I've already lost bets when the other side was +10000 live.
Yawn.Comment -

The guy's hockey grand salami was under 44.5 goals -110 (i'm assuming -110, maybe -105 or -115 or whatever, not to mention the 5 figures is a near obvious airbet, can't imagine any book taking that kind of action on a grand salami).
Ultimately, his bet came down to needing the under 8.5 to cash in that particular game.
Are you honestly telling me you think that there are as many hockey games that go over 8.5 goals as there are times when a team that was -110 pre-game blows a 9 run lead in the bottom of the 9th? That's just madness. If a team goes into the bottom of the 9th with a 9 run lead, forget about a live line, le ML isn't even offered. Under 8.5 on an NHL game is worth about -1500 I would think. On the particular game he was talking about, the over 7.5 was +475, so I can't imagine the over 8.5 being worth more than about +700, which would make the under about -1000 to -1500 depending on what kind of book we're talking about.
That's hardly, hardly anywhere near qualifying for a worst beat of all time, everyone on here has lost on teams that were -1000 to -1500 live dozens of times I would think.
This is equivalent to a team blowing a 3 run lead in the bottom of the 9th at best.Comment -
