Every pitcher on the Detroit staff is available except Verlander. If Scherzer is needed and Tigers win, then Verlander starts Game 5. If Tigers win without using Scherzer, then Leyland has a choice to make.

IF the Tigers need Scherzer it would be a bad sign indeed for the Tigers. He will not be the first choice to relieve unless they are down and can't afford to get any further behind. He is not going to get called on in anything but a desperate situation, since he would be the obvious best choice for a game 5. Unless he starts today there is no way to project him as a savior.Comment -
