#38Usually people that use the ignore feature are posters that have a hard time dealing with pressure and are very insecure.Comment -

#44Originally posted by reno coolso do you find yourself reading something and saying: this doesnt make any sense, must be someone I'm ignoring is on here.
FYI, I'm not sure you know this but, when someone is on ignore you can still see that they made a post, you just don't see the content. (You can also see title of threads they start and when someone quotes them).

No, not easier at all. The ignore function does a good job.
I do have about 10 people on what I might call unofficial ignore, which is what you are describing. Whenever I see their name/avatar, I automatically skip it 90% of the time.Comment -

#45No one.
But I am close to putting Peachgay on ignore but he has like 50 ghost accounts so it would be pointless.Comment -

#46Not pointless. You can put the ghost accounts on ignore too. It's just a few clicks of the mouse.
I am sure the 11 handles I have on ignore represent less than 11 actual human beings.
Peachgay, peachgay . . . . I'm sure I am being dense here but I can't figure out who that is.Comment -

#47Here is the thing about using IGNORE, some considered wisdom of the ages, if you will:
Don't think of it in terms of punishing someone. So often I see people using it as a threat, like it might somehow be leverage in making someone change their behavior.
That's silly. If you're thinking that way, you're probably not ready to use IGNORE, my son.
It is about helping yourself. It is about giving yourself a more serene environment. Nothing else.
The IGNORE function is not for the insecure. If you are the type of person to worry about what someone is saying about you, there is no sense even considering IGNORE. It will backfire; you will only make yourself more crazy.

I hate to give a serious answer when you're having such a good laugh but the fact is: when someone is on ignore you can still see that they made a post, you just don't see the content. (You can also see titles of threads they start and when someone quotes them).
This is my wish for the future of IGNORE technology. That someday, when you put someone on IGNORE, you will not see the titles of threads they start and when someone quotes them.
I dream of a true IGNORE function.Comment
