i still say Jordan was the best though JJ.
we are definately seeing the greatest golfer that ever played the game though right now in his prime. i can only imagine what his career numbers on him will be when it's all said and done.

Well I wouldn't say Woods is more dominant than Federer or Sorenstam really, to me Jerry Rice is the greatest athlete ever.

Jerry Rice was a solid route runner with great work ethic surrounded by excellent talent playing in a system that maximized his strengths. He's not even one of top 25 greatest individual football players of all-time. Have Rice play his career with Tampa Bay and he doesn't even make the Hall of Fame.

To each their own sport.
Tiger Woods is by far the best, and will go down as the best ever to play the game of golf.
But the best ever athlete? I cant go that far.
Im just getting sick of hearing about him everyday.

yep golf is a borderline sport at best, and I have some trouble calling tiger the greatest athlete. Take 100 golfers and put them through some athletic challenges vs say 100 tennis players. There would be no comparison in speed , or endurance. So many golfers are in half azzed shape and are able to compete on a pro level. Golfers are amazing at swinging at a little white ball and it is a true talent that takes many hours to master but then pro bowlers are great at swinging their arm and knocking down pins but are they great athletes? I know some baseball players are out of shape but atleast the sport requires you to hit a ball and run your heart out down to first, unlike golf were u hit a ball and stroll down the fairway eating a apple.

Don't be too hasty. By that way of thinking, SBR would have to ban you from the forums. Or maybe it's the other way around.

Most people are uniformed with golf and have no clue. In Tennis there are always dominate players each decade and in Tennis only about 4 people ever have a chance to win a tennis tourney each week as the gap between players is enormous. In golf about 80 players can win each week which is why Tiger is so unreal.
I will re phrase, Tiger is the most dominate athlete ever maybe not the best athlete as we will leave that to more physical type sports.

Tiger Woods dominates his sport more than any other athlete has ever dominated any other high-level sport. Michael Jordan is not even close. Jerry Rice is not even close. Wilt Chamberlain was somewhat close. Fortunately for Tiger, his is a high-level sport that can be dominated by an individual.
Roger Federer is somewhat comparable but the level of competition in Men's Tennis is pathetic. It's more him filling the void than actually reaching a level of ability that to an extent alters the game.

Tiger Woods is amazing, and there's no doubt that he is dominant
Anyone remember Mike Tyson in his prime? He should be added to the most dominant every list too...at least for that specific window of time.

Its close with Jordan, Gretzky and Woods but giving the level of difficulty of golf it has to go to Woods.

Mike Tyson is the most overrated athlete in the history of professional sports. Never defeated anyone one who would merit a B- rating and when he did eventually fight someone worthy he got his ass kicked. Smoke and mirrors..
He is hilarious though.

I respect people who actually believe that golf is a sport. To me it fits right in there with bowling, billiards, and fly fishing. I try to live by a simple rule. If you don't get out of breath or risk your life, while trying to beat somebody else, it's not a sport, but a competitive event.
