There was a time when I played the california harness racing on a daily basis. The game has changed since the sport exited the southern California area. The handle is too small now. The purses are too small now. This adds up to an invitation to corruption in a sport that can easily be tinted. There's been a few scandles in the recent years that have gone public. One driver who is now in New York was asked to leave California soon after a cheap claimer broke a track record. Another driver was convicted in court of bribes.
I stay away from Cal Expo these days. If I do play on ocasion the bets are of the two dollar variety. Los Al is a much better alternative for late night action imo.
