Herman told me today that he's applying to be an Agent with the U.S. Department of Customs and Border Patrol on our border with Mexico. It's nice job, steady employment, and much to my surprise the starting salary is equivalent to an O-2 (Lieutenant Junior Grade in the Navy). That's excellent pay for much less danger, and plenty of opportunities for advancement. I wish him all the success in the world in achieving this dream for himself.
