Injury is only a torn medial patellar ligament (MPL?). I am obviously using "only" as a relative term compared to how severe the injury could have been, he will resume light running in about two months and be fine for spring training.

It's great news. An ACL tear pretty much shuts him down through the 2014 ASB. With the MPL, he should be running in 2 months and has plenty of time to get ready for spring training in Feb.

It is incredibly good news. When you see an injury like that you fear the worst.

ACLs can end careers (everyone's recovery is different obviously) and once you do it, the chances of doing it again increase substantially.
