Sounds like the average MOD pay is $10/hr from reading posts, which may be good to some but I make double that and I am a dumb college dropout and I have to deal with way less than MODS do, these are smart guys who deal with con artist books and players, people who can barely speak english, drug addicts, alcoholics, racists, ignorant people etc etc. Seems they work almost 24 hrs a day as well or at least a hell of a lot more than standard 8. I just can't see why someone would want to be a MOD other than for love of the industry and assisting other players, for that I and thank you all for making this place open and sharing your knowledge and helping hand

Yah which probably is about 10 bucks an hour if you break it down considering they work so dam much I mean most work from home I suppose which works for some people and is worth the lower pay but I don't know I think they are under appreciated

No life and ability to start halftime threads. So everyone here is qualified.

Cooperation, people skills, Patience and enjoyment for the topic of the board come to mind. A desire to help out the forum and community is a big plus. Little ego is a bonus and a passion for on line gambling in this case. The ability to remain neutral and not play favorites. Thick skin. No whining because the population is picking on me. Take the heat so other members do not have to. Decision making is needed. A lot of reading and interpretation of what is being said. Not to fast in pulling the trigger until you fully understand. And, demonstrating an ability to say your sorry when you make mistakes. Try to fit in and not act as if you are better than any member. The members are the most important persons on the board. One must remember that. Be fair and be just. Politeness and be a listener, trying to understand before being understood. Be a team player. Just some thoughts.

I see a few misconceptions here. Not all mods are like Dan, posting 24/7. There are very different approaches/requirements.

Some mods are heavily involved with the grunt work of running contests. Some mods are involved in dispute resolution and post very little. When I was a mod here I didn't do either of those things. I mainly just shared my expertise on sportsbook/industry matters and took bit of a leadership role with that. I didn't work anywhere near 8 hours a day on the forum. When ganchrow was a mod I sense he was a lot like me, except focusing on mathematical rather than industry expertise - and he also seemed to be involved in computer programming/consulting/admin and whatnot.

So I don't think there is one answer of what the mod job is.

A lot of what Dan did, he did by choice. I doubt SBR people would have hassled him if he only did a fifth as much posting.

Even having been a mod, I have a hard time addressing the question of what it takes and what the responsibilities are. There was next to nothing in the way of job description and very little feedback. There was no vision statement to work towards. That was right at the start of the forum so maybe that has solidified.

In the absence of specific guidelines, I did what seemed logical: tried to assess community standards and apply them as they relate to things like racism/hate/attacks/nonsense. I think that was the right thing to do in theory. I think that is expected of the mods.

There are complaints to be responded to.

Mods are also responsible for organizing the forum to some extent. Moving threads to the proper forums, editing out urls.

                            Rogie that looks amazing.

Is that a piece of pineapple on the side?

Cuba had the best pineapple, it was pale white. Not yellow like here.

I loved the food, fried yuca, stewed pumpkin, plantain made every which way. I could easily be a vegetarian in that part of the world, except for the ham bone they put in the black beans.
