Is Josh Freeman going to get benched?

Apparently this guy isn't very popular with his head coach, his team and his GM.

The GM drafted a strong armed Mike Glennan high to push him.

He has been in the dog house of the head coach, even publicly. He was late to a meeting in the last few weeks and missed the team photo. The QB is supposed to be the first guy in meetings, he is supposed to be the smartest and hardest working guy on the team. Nobody should have to motivate a QB to succeed. If you need somebody to tell you to work harder then you are a loser and will never win in this league. Schiano is a non nonsense kind of guy and it looks pretty apparent why he doesn't like the lazy Freeman.

The thing that shocks me is that the TEAM, the players voted for Josh Freeman to not be a team captain this year. That's a pretty telling statement. This guy is a loser voted on by his peers.

He's looked impressive in a few games here and there in the last few years but he has bad consistency. I always hate when these teams draft these guys on potential because they rarely work out. Guy had a 55% completion percentage in college but Rahem Morris just had to have this guy. Freeman apparently wasn't even that great at K-State, apparently Jordy Nelson made him look better than he really was. Well enjoy being a starting QB kid, because you are a free agent and the odds are against you ever being a franchise QB. You are about to go on the Byron Leftwich backup QB circuit.

If he was smart, he woulda just let Freeman keep his bullshit, meaningless "Captain" label he's had the cpl years before no matter what that silent vote suggested.

when nothing was expected of the bucs a comeback or two was impressive. when they had expectations freeman's terrible play is now more pronounced. schiano and freeman seem to be in disagreement the QB seems to not care. i can't bet a team with turmoil like this. take the saints -3 all day.

TB couldn't do penetrate all against the jets

This isn't against the 49ers or Seahawks, this is against the worst defense in NFL history last year. Josh Freeman mailed it in. He doesn't give a shit. How does your QB skip meetings? Of course his coach has him in the shit house. No way Freeman finishes this year as the starter.

The Bucs have the makings for a pretty good team, but don't really like Schiano or how he's handling the situation. It just seems pretty classless for the HC to be leaking out some of the in-house dirty laundry and it also sounds like he's stirring some of it up himself. He's supposed to be the HC, if he wants to bench him for someone else then do it, don't start gossiping like some Jr. High School girl at recess, to try to turn the team against him.

Freeman may not be the answer, but he sure ain't the sole problem. It wasn't Freeman that had to burn 2 early time outs in the 2nd half because the coaches couldn't figure out the substitutions. One of those was used because the coaches couldn't get the punt team on the field. It wasn't Freeman that let the Saints march down the field in 48 seconds to win the game. Poor time management, situational football and all the penalties are on the coaching staff, not the QB. It's not so much that I'm trying to defend Freeman, but think that Schiano never supported Freeman and needs to "sack up" and be a man and take responsibility for the struggles of his team instead of using the media to lay off some of the blame.

Per CBS Sports' Jason La Canora, Josh Freeman is expected to request a trade out of Tampa prior to October's deadline.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport adds that the tension is "real" between coach Greg Schiano and Freeman, with a "growing disconnect." Per Rapoport, Freeman's frustration comes from Schiano revealing to the media that Freeman was late to a team meeting and has "been late for things before." Dating back to 2012, Freeman has barely completed 50 percent of his passes with a3:10TD:INT ratio over his last four games. Freeman is not on the standard-league fantasy radar. It wouldn't be a shock if third-round rookie Mike Glennon made year-one starts.

True but so is Rivers and Romo but they put up yds and points. Bucs got decent recievers, Glennon would have thrown for more than 125 against NO guaranteed. Not like Glennon is some savior but he'll give them a better chance at winning week to week.

Freeman will be done with the Bucs, either by the end of the year or by trade beforehand, the problem is, what are the Bucs going to get for him if they trade him? The season already started, if you are the Jaguars, Raiders, Browns, etc. he has to learn the playbook and all. You trade for him now and hope to play him by mid season. That also assumes he's better than Chad Henne and Jason Campbell and most knowledgeable people say they are all backup QB's with problems. What do you really get if you make Freeman your starting QB and Henne your backup?

Nobody wants a QB that isn't a leader. This guy is about to go on the Byron Leftwich circuit of backup QB's.
