I bought a graphics card (ATI Radeon 4850 PCI Express) about a month ago and I had to restore my computer today due to error messages everytime I tried to get online and it would knock me off. I had no clue that after the restore process that I would lose the graphics card but I did and I tried running the disc that came with it and cant get the dam thing back running..

Right click on My Computer/Properties/Hardware/Device Manager

Look for any "?" question marks. is one your Video card? If not, look for Display adapters and open it up to see the currently instaslled adapter.

Double click on it and choose reinstall driver.

Let it search the web for it. Youshould be good to go after that..

If not, follow the link for the winxp driver and install it.

    good luck!

Robust, I dont see any question marks anywhere...under display adapters...it shows my graphics card...ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series..and still no question mark...it has a computer monitor next to it (not sure what that means)...I double click it and see 4 tabs...General, Driver, Resources, Details..I click Driver and see update driver so I guess that is it.....Thanks Robust, I really appreciate it

Cloak & Dagger...That CD just keeps giving me error messages..I dont know what it is..

So your resolution is all mess up and the colors aren't right? Maybe you just need to get into the display properties and set them the the correct settings?

Because if it listed your card in the device manager, then the drivers should be loaded.

Maybe try right clicking on your card in device manager, and select uninstall, and then reboot. Then reinstall it. Maybe go to the ATI site and download the updated drivers to your hard drive.

Just trying to type out suggestions without seeing the problem personally.

Did you go into the display properties and set to the correct resolution of your choice?

I cant remember what the resolution was at before...before down near the time it had an "ATI" red box with the resolution and some other numbers in it and I cant remember what they were...I know it was WAY smaller than this on the screen and it is 800x600 right now...color quality 32 bit

if it doesn't show you do not have the correct driver installed ... should be able to do 1080

I couldn't tell you how to fix this problem. In fact I've been having some serious computer issues myself since roughly April, 2008.
