Last year the NFL wasn't ready for the read option.

Griffin was either running or handing it off to Morris and the Redskins led the NFL in rushing. Griffin was chucking passes to wide open receivers.

The first few read options plays the Redskins got nothing. The 49ers read option wasn't working either.

So forget how efficient Griffin was last year, teams were playing the read option wrong and were getting killed on play action. Did you see Griffin throw that dumb pick right into double coverage? He didn't have to do that last year, he just took the easy throws. The easy throws won't be there as much this year. He is going to have to make accurate throws into tight spots this year, and we don't know if he can do that.

ESPN will blame it on him being "rusty" but even if he was 100% he still would have harder throws to make this year and won't be as good.
