Arizona futures and that line just got ****ing raped.
I may have lost on PITT, but those books are in bigger trouble than me.

I think AZ straight up would have been worse. This is the best outcome on the spread moneyline. Props likely got them and the total, but on the volume bets, I think they did ok.

You only need to compare SIA's lines to Pinny, Olympic, etc. to see whether the books did well. Considering the "public" loves underdog MLs and favorite spreads, they did pretty well.

Ding-Ding - we have a winner, although he knows that anyway. A favourite not covering the spread coupled with an underdog not winning straight up is usually a good day for the books.

There are always people who want the books to have done badly on the Super Bowl. Multiple threads like this with some contrived rationalization every year.
I guess people want their fellow gamblers to feel nervous and panicky about their funds for some reason ??? Maybe they just want to seem in-the-know ???
I don't know the motivation but it happens without fail.

Here's someone who actually knows what he's talking about.....
Jay Rood, sports book manager for the 12 MGM Mirage properties:
"In the next few hours," Rood said, "I've got a big decision to make. Right now Pittsburgh is favored by seven; do I drop it to 6 1/2 to lure in more money from Pittsburgh? The way it goes now, if Arizona wins or covers the seven-point spread, we lose big."
Not only did they lose big on the spread due to the Cards covering, they also lost on the props due to so many favs hitting.
"Twenty-five percent of all the wagers taken on the Super Bowl are propositions such as who will have more points today, LeBron James playing against Detroit, or the Steelers?"

I received an email this morning from a friend working at a Vegas book and he said that the books lost the largest amount of money for the last 25 years in this Superbowl. The props were brutal and the Arizona cover which was the public favorite bet together with the over covering was brutal.

Vegas lost $2.6M on the SB last year...... mostly cause the 12pt dog won outright.
I wonder if they beat that figure this time around. But they must be breathing a sign of relief that Big Ben came through with that amazing throw (fvck Holmes for stealing his MVP)..... imagine how much worse it would be had the Cards won outright.
