Nicky Santoro - A typical Montrealer!
Remember earlier this season when Nicky touted his Habs as the greatest? Yep, they were beating up bad teams as favourites and Nicky wouldn't stop talking about them (and touting them).

He was calling for a Stanley Cup for Montreal!

But the Plommer has been around long enough to know that the Canadiens really aren't Cup contenders, I've been saying this all along, only to be drowned out by Nicky trumpeting his horn on his hometown hockey team.

Now the Habs are revealing themselves as the weaklings I predicted they would be when faced with some toughness, those "weak" teams the Canadiens were beating earlier are now giving Montreal all they can handle!

In true Santoro/Montreal form, he is nowhere to be found when his team is stinking out the joint!

Nicky, if you're reading this (and I know you are), take some friendly advice and lay off betting those underachieving/weakling Habs.

Here's a gift from Betplom to you Nicky, to help get back some of your Habs losses.

Pittsburgh Penguins -0.5 +143 (Regulation Time)

I really liked this game, and like it more now that Kaberle is out for Toronto.

Leafs lose Kaberle to hand injury

Habs are going nowhere they have no toughness outside of Komisarek, they will get pushed around in the playoffs by the tougher teams. With all the Russians and Frenchmen on the team, they dont have enough grit.

Tuller, you're a smart man, I've been saying the same thing since the beginning of the season.

I didn't read what Nicky said but I remember a lot of the early season chest-thumping from other Habs fans. One thing everyone always listed near the top of their reasons for projected success was Alex Kovalev.

When I saw that, I knew they weren't going anywhere. You're counting on Kovalev to take you to the promised land?

          Give your head a shake.

The skill guys are great to watch, and put fans in the seats but come playoff time it is all about the goalies and team toughness. Winning 4 rounds and 16 games takes a toll and you need a team that will play through the bumps and bruises and not quit or hide when the pressure gets tough.

The wings need to make Conklin or Howard the full time goalie. Osgood has had a solid career but his better days are behind him, too many soft goals.

Conks got buried today, need to bring Howard up. Howard is going elsewhere though soon, contract expires and he is NHL caliber. Look for him to move.

Howard is going to fulltime NHL goalie somewhere soon, he has talent and just needs to get the chance at the NHL consistently.

patty, thanks for this thread, cause once i saw BBD say calgary would win, i hammered the habs for way more than my avg bet.. this danny is one of the worst cappers i have ever run into in my whole entire life on these boards.. this guy is consistently hitting 32% in his career.

Habs are still underpriced.. they should be -230... you can't go wrong betting habs this season. they are a team with no superstars at all, just a bunch on unknowns who play like Stanley Cup Champs. And dont be surprised to see them carry the CUP in June. They are that good.

A desperation win over the lowly LA Kings in Montreal is something only Hab fans could get excited about.

Fade Montreal come playoff time, you will make money.

It shouldn't matter who they play, every other playoff bound team in the east is tougher and has more grit than Montreal.

Maybe, but grit is not the be all and end all of playoff series. Taking into consideration their current states. Montreal has a better playoff resume than NYR, Buffalo, Pittsburgh, Florida, and Carolina.

Montreal will end up 4 seed at best they are not going to catch Boston. Most likely 1st rd opponent will be the Rangers, Devils, or Flyers and I would take all 3 teams over Montreal. I actually think the Flyers might be a good sleeper team to make the Finals.

Right now my East playoff power rankings would be:

                                                  1. Boston
                                                  2. New Jersey
                                                  3. Philadelphia
                                                  4. Washington
                                                  5. Montreal
                                                  6. Pittsburgh
                                                  7. NYR
                                                  8. Buffalo
                                                  9. Florida
                                                  10. Carolina

With a few things TBD, and a couple of things that I think will change by playoff time, ie better Pittsburgh GDIF, worse Philly goaltending, less NJ goals per game, worse Florida GDIF.
