#37Shooting free throws in a game is much more difficult than if you just take a video camera and go to a gym because you are tired in a game.Comment -

#38Not so much that you are tired in game, but you cannot get the same RHythm that you can in gym during practice. ONe reason is that you only take 2 free throws at a time in a game. Also they are taking after getting fouled which means you could be a little banged up. Adrenaline is also pumping, tons of factors in game that don't come into play in practice.Comment -

#40OK honestly, I think that I hit 5 in a row once. That is my career high. ya, I know, I suck big time. On average, I can hit 2 in a row maybe 2 twice in a 10 toss set.Comment -

#41Many years ago, I challenged Vernon Maxwell in college and made 48 of 50. I was a consistent 83% from the stripe. I still play every day and though I've digressed talent wise I'm still in the low 80s from FT.Comment -

#42wow either this forum is very talented or there are alot of liars here.
42 straight in 5 hs games? not too many nba or college guys even take 42 ft's in a five game span (unless you are lebron or harangody) making that many a row in game conditions would be really amazing, If I recall the nba record was like in the 80s or 90sComment -

No one can come close to Dr. Tom. He gives clinics on FT shooting. I attended a few and can attest that this guy knows how to shoot FT's. He's helped hundreds of athletes improve their FT's.
- 2,750 consecutive (no misses!) free throws in one day, as documented in the Guinness Book of Records.
- 374 consecutive free throws in one hour, with one ball, on Fox TV, February 28, 1996.
He offered to help Shaq one time which Shaq declined (idiot)Comment -

#48Originally posted by Mac4LyfeIt is a lot easier making consecutive FT's in an empty gym when nothings on the line. In the NBA or college you have thousands of rabid fans waving, screaming, etc... It's much harder during a game. The NBA record is 97 straight FT's which is very good. Jose Calderon I think is currently approaching this record (around 90 straight).

Ironically, I think women may be just as good FT shooters as men. They seem to have great concentration and focus. My cousin was an All American at Iowa and she was a very good FT shooter. The smaller ball helps obviously.Comment -

#561 on 1 mike? I'm not a 1 0n 1 guy but I will play..... but i'm only 5'10 so you prob will have an advantage... If I make it to the bash we can play for sure. It will give me a reason to start playing. Seriously the 4 mins of shooting this vid and the other 2 b-ball vids I did were more combined b-ball i've done in the last 2 years combined. so your challenge and Iwin's can get me back playing in the old men's league and practice shootingComment -

I'm only 5'10 maybe 6'0 at the most, honestly I dont know. I've always been the little guy on the court. I used to have advantage with my quickness but now I dont know if I can rely on that.
you look like a solid, fundementally sound player from the vids to me with pistol pete like handles. I think it would be a great match up.
if you shot B-Ball in the last 2 yrs than you've done more tham me. I found myself at my sons B-Ball practice a couple weeks ago trying to act like my old self and it hurt it. it sucks to get old, but we can continue to live our good ole days cant weComment -

that is dang impressive.... I would surmise that someone that can shoot a great 85-95% in practice free throws would only shoot 70-75% if that in game situations. Its night and dayComment -

#63Originally posted by strictlywinnersHahaha I was 3rd in the nation in the elks hoopshoot when I was 12, 25 for 25 in New Jersey state final. 35 for 35 in regional final between new york pennsalvanyia and New jersey. Some fat kid forced me in to double OT. My record however was around 230+ thats when I used to shoot a bunch of them, to try to be good. I think I was like 10.
what year was this strictly? I used to do the elks hoopshoot and the pepsi hot shot challenge back in..... I guess 88-91? Never got too far in the hoop shoot, because they did it during b-ball season and I had games on saturdays so inevitably I would have a conflict...that suckedComment -
