Just had an argument with a friend that was equivalent to this. Teams and sport and scenario were different but I will dumb it down and make it sound easier than the real scenario:
I tell friend I think Arizona Cardinals will win the Super Bowl. He says OK I like the Steelers, lets bet on the game. I say do you want to do the 7 points or do -250/+250 straight up. He says no, lets do even money straight up because you think the Cardinals will win. I say no I am not doing that, I can get 7 points or +250 anywhere, why would I bet the Cardinals straight up at even money? He says then you obviously don't think the Cardinals will win the game so never say that again.
