Anyone read the latest Sports Illustrated article about the Hoover High School football team from Alabama? ... They are ranked #1 in the country ... Sounded more like a pro team ... Half a million budget for the football program ... Lots of back door recruiting with top players all over the state relocating to go to that school ... 13 assistant coaches ... 60% of the players go on to play college football with scholarships ... I would think most high schools would be happy with 1 player going on to college football with a scolarship ... They play a team from Oklahoma in Oklahoma Fri. night that has won 57 straight home games ... The trip there will cost $108,000.

The game is on Fox Sports Net Friday night at 11pm EST.

I wonder if any of the books will have a line on the game ... I do believe I saw lines on the Little League World Series.

Anyway, a great read of about 6 or 7 pages.

That whole school system is out of control, population boom like you wouldn't believe. They were our top rival in sports in highschool and after a few years in their new school and facilities and 3k new students, they started dominating every sport around 2001.

A good friend of mine taught Chad Jackson (fla>NE) a few short years ago.

The article suggests it's the new head coach ... He even gives clinics to coaches in grade school and junior high to get them to adopt his system so they will already know it when they get to high school.

alot of programs are like this though. as far as a line on that game goes, if anyone would have a line on it at all it would be 5dimes.

they have their own tv show on MTV, called "two-a-days". where mtv just follows the team through its practices and football games.

I just caught that channel surfing. That coach is a total despot. Scary. The total opposite of Greg Kinnear's portrayal of Dick Vermeil which was pretty laughable. Great movie though.

There wins mean nothing, any HS team can do this if they recruit.
