That is the new America, not any different than most other retailers and fast food places or other unskilled labor jobs. You can't pay $15-20 / hour for peon labor without losing money as a businessman....prices will just increase to a proper pace if the Minimum wage rises too fast.

If you make minimum wage you need to work two jobs at say $8 hour for 60 hours a week ...$480 a week, call it $500.....or 26k a year... that's enough to share an apartment with a roommate, have no car, maybe a bicycle and a bus pass, have enough to eat and survive....but basically be upper poor class.

and that depends a lot on where you live at. 26k in Vegas is way better than 26k in Boston.

Oh I know they are evil, and violate a lot of labor practices and treat their employees poorly....but the same is the norm at most other minimum wage type places.

I know they drive other small businesses out of existence, so do Costco, Sam's, Target, Homedepot, Lowes,Bestbuy,and many other big box retailers.

I have little alternative to shopping at Walmart, realistically !

I purchase most of my stuff at walmart and Shoprite.
