Real happy for the guy. Soriano should have stayed a Yank.
Would have helped all clubs involved with him over the years.

Not sure what too expensive means for the Yankee's. Not sure I want to know. Granted, the schmuck in charge now is doing a masterful job of burying this franchise for a decade, regardless of money.
The old man would have happily paid for Soriano if he found it worth it.

hes good he still cant get around vs a good heater though hes older and uses a super heavy bat .....vs a breaking ball or a guy that throws mid 80s like weaver yeah he can do good things.

When the Yanks got rid of him they were jizzing themselves for A-Rod.
Sorinaos problem like many Dominicans was that he swung at anything. You'd see him strike out swinging at eye level pitches. The guy could hit but he had no self control.

A-Rod was the prettiest girl on the block, so the yankees gave up on the housewife, soriano, and waved money at the drug pushing whore.

Lightbulb
He was solid for a couple years and then went into a funk after a bad playoff season and didnt come out of it for years. I remember him being an auto strikeout his last playoff run with NYY
Edit: just looked. 2003 playoffs 75 abs and 26 k's
Yikes

One of the streakiest players I can think of.
The guy is good to great for a few weeks, and then below average the rest of the season. Every single year he was on the Cubs, there was no exception I felt.
Also, the comments about his strikeouts are on point. Guy reminds me of a Candy Maldonado/Sammy Sosa hybrid in that regard. I can't imagine the biggest bat in baseball helps that at all.
Glad to see him leave the Cubs, even though the North Side is currently paying for his production on the Yankee's. Real happy to see him finding success on that stage.

Just throw him off speed stuff in the dirt and he'll get himself out every time.

the past 5 years he's been a .250 hitter that makes $19 million. this year on yankees hes hitting .222. you think he's worth more than $19 million? past 5 years he's hit around .250.
paying a .250 hitter $19 million is way more than the player deserves. he's way over the hill and way overpaid.
If you were a GM, would you pay a 37 year old has-been $19 million per year when they've been a .250 hitter every year for the past 5 years? How much would you pay your 37 year olds that hit .250? 25 million? 30 million? you'd be a great GM. Soriano isn't even worth anywhere near his 19.

They traded him to Texas in the A-Roid deal, they probably would have had at least 2 World Series if they would have kept Soriano instead of the Tool who couldn't satisfy Madonna or Cameron Diaz.

He has 13 RBI in the last two days, so he's great according to SBR and its ADD posters.

I thought Soriano was striking out all the time in key situations... that's why the yanks didn't want to pay him anymore. Felt contract with too high.

Exactly.
He strikes out on shit that nobody else in MLB would swing at.
Him and Jeff Francour can hit if you pitch near the plate, but these guys swing at anything.
Sorino never walked as a Yankee. That's when they had patient hitters that walked a lot like Giambi, Abreu, Posada. Then you have Sorino swing as shit in the dirt.

He was doing terrible when they got rid of him before. The fans were happy to see him go. At the time, JJ probably made a thread about how great it was that they got rid of the bum.

He's all or nothing. Of course he'll be on the Yankees next season. He's signed and the Cubs are basically paying his salary. When he's going good he looks like the best hitter around. When he's going bad he looks like he couldn't hit a watermelon. Yankee Stadium more conducive to his HR's than Wrigley.
