For weeks now, David Huertas has patiently answered one question after another about Ole Miss’ youth in the aftermath of three key injuries to experienced players. Time after time, the Rebels’ junior guard and leading scorer has basically toed the company line, refusing to use the injuries to Chris Warren, Eniel Polynice and Trevor Gaskins as an excuse for the dissipation of a season that began with such high hopes.
On Monday, however, with Terrico White now added to the injury list and with Zach Graham limping through the season with a partially torn patella tendon, Huertas finally ran out of words.
“I’m speechless,” Huertas said. “I don’t know what to say. I’ve never seen that before. (Five) people with knee injuries? I don’t know what to do.”
