MLB is about $200/year and DirectTV breaks it up in 6 payments
I also started paying for NFL Ticket-about 2 1/2 bills.
I wait tables/bartend for a living, make about 24k a year and I can sure as hell afford it.

Went into the great room this morning and my daughter was sitting on the couch watching the softball little league World Series on espn. I didn't even know they were showing the girls tourney.

Bottom line....it made me feel good to see my 6 year old watching sports on tv by herself. Must be raising her right.

Seriously, put em on another station. And as someone else said, put the semi's and finals on ESPN. That's fine. But this game was garbage at the expense of the TIgers and Yankees. Common. I enjoy the finals but not the play in game or whatever it was.

I know it's a little late, but I think part of the reason it is on is for the large group of people who play baseball but don't have that much interest in the sport at a professional level, and also for the people who are actually in baseball, not just watchers of the sport.

My brother has dedicated his life to baseball and when he was in little league we would watch the players from the south west region and he always knew who the best ones were. He used the same pitching coaches, hitting coaches, played on the same travel ball teams etc. The people who are actually very good at the sport all know each other.

Now he is starting his junior year in high school and knows all of the best southern california HS players. 5 kids from his high school were drafted to the MLB this past year. He knew both the aces from UCLA and Fullerton when they met in the college WS this year.

Tomorrow night is the PG nationals game and one kid from his HS and another from his city will be playing in the game and he knows many more. In the 2012 MLB draft, 85% of those selected were PG national kids. People who are on the inside eat up the real stuff.
