Kentucky H.S.football coach David Stinson arraigned for players heat stroke death.
Anyone remember playing high school football and being in similar circumstances as this kid that croaked from heat stroke?I played in 76-78 and was 167 pounds back then and was one of the fastest kids on the team.I was heavier as a kid, lost weight then and am a fat adult.I hated heat even when I was in the best shape of my life back in those days.I wanted to play wide receiver but we had so many puney kids I got stuck playing tackle.Kentucky is brutal in August for heat and humidity but Minnesota can be the same.I remember every first week of practice being in the 90's with 90% humidity with full pad workouts.Back then it was coaches and doctors beliefs that you didn't drink much water at all because you would cramp up.40 kids would share a gallon brown A&W root beer jug with white athletic tape insulating it and the water turned outdoor temperature immediately. Can you imagine the frigging bacteria in that cesspool of a jug after everyone drank from it!Then you had to take salt pills to cause you to sweat!

I'm sure this situation was a little different where the kids had all the water and ice they wanted but the coach will probably fry just because it was hot out.In the late 70's the friggin coaches were so ignorant that it's surprising 200 kids a practice season didn't croak,They would have gotten away with murder because they said they conducted practice by the book.Hell, everyone on the team back then knew the not drinking water dealie was totally f&&cked up.I think that's why I became a libertarian where I despise politicians that have that,we know what's best for you attitude.

You are better off doing an individual sport where you don't have authority figures ragging on you!

that shit has been all over the papers here the past week, actually on and off since it happened.

they have had qoutes and opinions from all kinds of area coaches and administrators. Basically everyone is concerned about how it turns out cause they are curious as to how it will effect getting coaches or trying to hire good coaches.

another thing is that before Stinson took over PRP they were coached by Leasor, who has went back to B.C. , which is the school I graduated from. Leasor was a hard ass back when i was there. I can remember having double sessions in July and August and the heat and humidity just being crazy hot.
Some coaches just have that old mentality of push you until you break, or i pass out ,or die in this case.
